Every city has a music scene where local bands fine tune their skills with the
hope of hitting it big. In San Juan, Lupi’s Mexican Grill & Sports Cantina has
been the proving grounds for local bands in their quest for stardom with a
musical line-up unrivaled island wide.
Adjacent to the San Juan Hotel & Casino, Lupi’s is Open 7 days a week from 11
a.m. until the at least 1 a.m. and provides one of the areas most lively music
venues.
Every night Spanish and English rock bands play original and cover music. The
circuit kicks-off with local legends “Bartolo and the Night Breakers” and is
followed up by “Eucalipto” on Tuesdays, “Cyncro” on Wednesday, “Kamaleon”
on Thursday, “Holgazanes” on Saturday and “Zorro Viejo” on Sundays. Also on
Friday and Sundays at 8:30 p.m. Lupi’s hosts karaoke night, followed by live
rock music.
Lupi’s offers much more than just original music. With indoor and outdoor
terrace dinning options, their menu offers a variety of Mexican style food, to
include their famous fajitas. You can chose between Lupi’s Legendary Fajitas,
Puerto Rican Fajitas, Shrimp or Cajun Fajitas; all of which are served on sizzling
hot skillet with onions & bell peppers, refried beans, rice, guacamole, sour
cream, pico de gallo, lettuce, tomato, black olives, jalapeños and warm flour
tortillas. Compliment your meal with Lupi’s renowned 60 oz Margarita.
Lupi’s has an impressive collection sports memorabilia and autographs of
athletes and artists. Igor Gonzalez, Carlos Beltran, Ednita Nazario and Mark
Anthony and others adorn the walls. Many of Lupi’s clients come to buy
baseball cards and shirts autographed by owner Eduardo Figueroa, a former
major league great who pitched for the famed New York Yankees. Fiqueroa, a
member of the Puerto Rican Hall of Fame, can be seen from time to time in and
around the establishment in an unsuspecting manner and is happy to entertain
autograph requests. Lupi’s, or the house that Figueroa built, is a Yankee fan
right of passage in Puerto Rico.
With live music, great food, cocktails and the possibility of rubbing elbows with a
baseball legend, why wouldn’t you stop at Lupi’s Mexican Grill & Sports Cantina
in Isla Verde.
