Nativo Sport Bar & Grill is a must see visit while visiting Puerto Rico’s surfing
capitol on the Western half of  island. Located on the coast of Rincón, near
Playa Corcega, Nativo represents a variety of ambience in one location. From
an extended bar, beautiful gardens, a recreation area with pool tables and
seperate dining room with big screens showing live sporting events; this island
style sports bar is cutting edge.

Nativo’s design combines elements of brick, wood, bamboo, and palm leafs with
assorted sports memorabilia from the past  20 years to create a uniqueness
not found in any sportsbar in Puerto Rico.

The design and construction showcased the talent and vision of the owner who
intelligently combines nature with sports. This is exemplified in the middle of the
establishment, where a wild orchid, orange and carambolatree trees are
integrated into the restaurants theme. The combined area is large and is suited
for private activities or parties. This concept is relatively new, only 17 months in
the making, when it transformed from Tropico Jazz after 13 years under the
former name.

The owners of Nativo, Efaín Castillo, chef and woodworker, and his wife Arimar
Bonet offer a variety of local food with some specialties, like the home made
quesadillas, filled with meat or shellfish, fresh from the west coast. Their most
popular is filled with grilled steak. The home made quesadilla has grated fresh
cheese, salted onion, green sweet pepper and special seasonings. Also
popular is the Nativo Burger made with 8 oz of angus meet, melted swiss
cheese, salted onion and mushrooms.

Every Sunday Nativo Sport Bar & Grill has music. The bands fuse Spanish
rock, folkloric music like bomba and plena, Jamaican reggae and salsa. Nativo
is open 7 days a week from 5 p.m. to midnight on weekdays and extended
hours on weekends until 2 a.m. On Monday they have the popular Wing Night
at .25 cents each. Owner and chef Castillo also announced that coming sooner
than later the resteraunt would offer the same special with shrimp. On top of it
all, the convienance of a huge private parking lot greets customers after a long
day at the beach. “Nativo definitely represents its namesake ‘nativo’ with its
Boricua style, by boricua owners”, said Efrain Castillo.

The clients that come to Nativo are from different ages, but mostly visited by
young-adults. Friday, Saturday and Monday are the most popular days.
