The Palm: experts in high
steaks surf & turf
by Norka Perez

The Palm’s fine dining with a casual atmosphere is located in the
Old San Juan Hotel and Casino for nearly a decade and is part of
the legacy of 25 restaurant that the Palm has around the United
States.

The establishments’ ambiance is unique; with warm colors, soft
lighting and walls adorned with articles distinguishing quality
through caricatures of Palm clients. Their illustrious list of clientele
includes Don King, Morgan Freeman, Benicio del Toro, Roselyn
Sanchez, Olga Tañon and ex-governors, among many others.

What distinguished this place? In addition to the great food and
service, The Palm guaranties that you eat the best cuts of meat,
fish and vegetables on the market. Proof lies in that they buy prime
meat, which makes up only 2% of the meat sold in the United
States, They also fly in seafood and tomatoes to guarantee their
clients receive the best, not matter the price. Palm Manager,
Marisol Marina says: “the fish comes from the hand of the fisherman
to your table in 48 hours”.

In the early days The Palm was an Italian restaurant, but when
some one came and wanted a steak, the original owners John
Ganzi and Pio Bozzi ran to a nearby market and bought one to
ensure their customers get the service they deserve. The
restaurant became famous because of that steak and the rest is
history. The Palm would eventually  include lobster and a variety of
seafood, all of excellent quality. The tradition of that first steak
remains, and if a client requests a unique flavor and has the
ingredients, Palm chefs are  more than happy to oblige.

With 2 private rooms available for private activities and a
membership dubbed the “837 CLUB”, the Palm is open every day
from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Most clients are left speechless, but to quote
customers after dinning at the Palm one particularly Thursday;
“wonderful service, beautiful people and they make you feel part of
the family”.
