Quit or die tryin
Pitfight Demolition
Surviving in the world of Rock & Roll, whether classic or metal, can be very
tough, especially coming from a small island like Puerto Rico.  However,
some bands, like Pit Fight Demolition, manage to make a crossover into
the international market, leaving their mark on an industry that’s
pretty hard to get into in the first place. “Our main goal right now is to keep
working on our originality as a band and to keep evolving as musicians
within this broad music genre,” says Wayne Gehricke, one of Pit Fight
Demolition’s original creators. Formed between 2002 and 2003, this
heavy metal band has transcended physical boundaries, with its music
spreading across the Caribbean and South America, as well as reaching
some European and Asian countries. Its members include Gehricke on
guitar and backup vocals, Enrique Jely as main vocalist, Brando Collazo on
bass guitar, and Miguel Rivera on drums.  As for the music itself, there’s no
denying that it’s heavy, but then again, that’s the whole point.
“Our songs may be strong in terms of volume and content, but our message is always very straight,” says Gehricke, adding
that their music is mostly about their experiences, as well as the different things that happen in society on a daily basis. Pit
Fight Demolition, also known as PFD, already launched its first production, Quit or Die Trying, and is currently working on its
next one, Into the Bottomless Pit. Upcoming shows for PFD include March 2nd at Blue Moon’s Café in San Sebastián,
March 9th at the Mayagüez Café with God Forbid, Full Blown Chaos and Eden A.D., and March 16th at Cavana’s Café in
Hato Rey for the Brutal Metal Scene show. For more information on the band and more upcoming shows, visit
