Como parte de una iniciativa para estimular el deporte
extremo en la Isla, The Room Surf Shop ha puesto sus esfuerzos
creando los Challenge en surfing, bodyboarding y skate. En este
caso fue The Room Skate Challenge celebrado en el Arecibo Skate
Park ubicado en el Bo. Coll y Tosté de dicho municipio. Esto el
pasado Domingo 22 de Julio con $500.00 en efectivo a repartir en
la categoría Open Skate, Open Bowl y Best Trick.
Desde horas tempranas comenzó a llegar muchos niños, público en
general y competidores a la escena del Challenge a pesar de la
amenaza de lluvia. El The Room Skate Challenge comenzó a las
12:30 de la tarde con la categoría Open Skate con más de 30
participantes donde el primer lugar ganaba $250.00, segundo
$150.00 y $50.00 el tercer lugar más artículos de los auspiciadores.
Este torneo fue un torneo pequeño pero pudimos ver los mejores
de la Isla como Joel González joven de Lares muy talento, también
contaron con el Pro Skater boricua Robert López directo de
California entre otra estrella de la patineta. También durante el
Open Skate se estuvo pintando un Graffiti permanente por parte de
RVCA y autorizado por el Municipio de Arecibo quienes han
cooperado en varios torneos extremos.
La categorías Bowl Open y Best Trick no se realizaron por la lluvia
que interrumpió en la tarde aunque se espero por que mejorara el
tiempo fue imposible secar el parque para los jóvenes de estas
categorías. El Challenge gozo de una buena cantidad de publico a
pesar de tener muchas otras actividades playeras y la amenaza de
la lluvia, cientos de niños gozaron y casi todo el publico se fueron
con un recuerdo del The Room Skate Challenge. Este torneo contó
con jueces de la Federación de Skate de Puerto Rico.

Barrio Coll y Toste. Cash and prizes for the event totaled $500 for
Open Skate, Open Bowl and Best Trick.
Kids, competitors, and the public in general began arriving early in
the day before the unfortunate rain. The Skate challenge began at
12:30 with the Open Skate Catagory with more than 30 compeitors
and first place recieving $250, Second Place $150 and third fetching
$50.
Although the event was small scale, the best skaters the island has
to offer, like the very talented Joel Gonzalez from Lares, and pro
Boricua skater Robert Lopez from California, attended the event.
Other activities during the event included graffiti by Ró
A and authorized by the Municipality of Arecibo.
The Open Bowl and Best Trick competitions were not held due to
the heavy rain, which made it impossible for the ramp to dry to
continue competition. With a good turnout, the Room Skate
Challenge left a positive impression on the public. The contest was
sanctioned by the Skateboarding Federation of Puerto Rico.
